We are excited to have two more of our wonderful UPSPS team members join the ranks of our 10-year-club this month!

Anita Thomas and Sam Lingman celebrated ten years with the company at a special lunch with their team in Auckland along with our management group who travelled from Wellington.

Sam and Anita swelled our employee numbers to 10 when they joined UPS Power Solutions and both have played a crucial role in the growth and development of the business during that time.

Anita Thomas, Distribution & Warehouse Team Lead

Anita applied for a customer service rep role with us in August 2014 and her application cover letter says, ‘I’ve a proven track record in resolving customer issues by going the extra mile.’

If there is one term that could sum up Anita over the last ten years, it is ‘going the extra mile.’ Her commitment to overcoming challenges and ensuring the prompt delivery of our products to customers has been outstanding.

At the lunch, managing director, Nicky Blackmore said, “You add great value to the culture of the Auckland branch and the company as a whole. You are open and honest and willingly accept feedback in the spirit it is given with a focus on making things better for next time. You are great fun but never let your personal standards slip – there are lots of ways to do things and then there is Anita’s way – which is the correct way!”

Anita has recently been promoted to the role of distribution & warehouse team lead. It is thoroughly deserved and we can’t wait to see her thrive and make it her own.

Anita, thank you for your contribution over the last ten years – UPS Power Solutions would not be what it is without you.

Sam Lingman, Corporate Sales Manager

Sam joined us as a UPS service electrician in September 2014 and is a true success story of our commitment to delivering continuous professional development.

From the outset, Sam has embraced our career pathway programme and focussed on moving into a sales role. After spending a couple of years successfully managing some client accounts he was promoted to lead sales engineer in 2018 before being made one of our first senior engineers in 2020 as recognition of his engineering competence.

His progress has continued with his growing skills and capabilities seeing him deservedly join the management team as corporate sales manager, a move which enables the business to further enhance its ability to serve customers.

Nicky Blackmore said at the celebratory lunch, “Sam, you should be very proud of yourself – and we are proud of you and for you. You are well liked and respected by our staff, customers and suppliers. Your easy-going nature puts people at ease and your sense of humour can lighten any conversation. I am looking forward to supporting you and watching you continue to develop and flourish.”

He also has a distinction of being the original Sam and proudly using the sam@upspower.co.nz email address, a real prize among our many Sam’s.

Sam, we are delighted to have had you with us for 10 years and to have seen you grow and be a pivotal part of how our business nurtures talent and delights customers.

People first

Nicky Blackmore says it is so rewarding to celebrate these milestones as it not only validates our commitment to empowering our people to reach their goals but shows how important they have been in developing our approach to enhancing skills and talents over the years.

“Sam and Anita are integral parts of our organisation and I can reflect on multiple instances where they have individually helped shaped our career pathway programme and the way we make UPSPS a rewarding place to work for everyone. As we reach 25 employees across three locations, they can both be proud of their achievements and their contribution to the careers of everyone who has followed them,” says Blackmore.

Sam and Anita join Annette Bovey, Graham Blackmore, Nicky Blackmore and James Clark in the 10-year club and we look forward to adding new members to both the 5-year and 10-year clubs later in the year.
