UPS Power Solutions (UPSPS) was very proud to win the NZ partner category at last week’s Schneider Electric 2025 Sustainability Impact Awards.

The awards were a central feature of Schneider’s 2025 Innovation Summit held in Syndey last week. Designed to recognise and celebrate the sustainability efforts of its global partner network, the awards highlight companies that are leading the way in decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and sustainable transformation.

Schneider Electric’s Pacific Zone President, Colette Munro says that this year’s award winners exemplify how connecting innovation and collaboration can accelerate the energy transition and contribute to raising sustainability benchmarks in the region.

“We’re proud to recognise and support organisations making progress on their sustainability journeys, demonstrating how the right technology and commitment can make such great positive impact,” she says.

Meaningful leadership

UPS Power Solutions is New Zealand’s leading provider of backup power and protection solutions, delivering energy-efficient and reliable power solutions to major organisations across the Pacific.

The judging panel highlighted the company’s efforts to help other businesses transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy future and its own dedication and efforts to sustainability and innovation.

UPSPS managing director Nicky Blackmore says that the company has been a long-standing advocate of sustainability and began its sustainability journey long ago when many of today’s phrases and descriptors were yet to be coined.

“Sustainability to us means delivering social and economic benefits to stakeholders whilst operating our business in a way that doesn’t waste resources. It is something that is part of our company DNA and it is important that we lead by example in our internal sustainability initiatives and practices.

“By engaging our people, suppliers, customers and communities we ensure that our efforts are both authentic and meaningful, and through continual learning and development our environmentally conscious actions have gone from strength to strength,” she says.

Sustainability in action

The awards also showcased specific projects where partners had deployed Schneider Electric and APC products to deliver innovation, energy efficiency and extend sustainability for customers.

UPSPS’s work at Auckland’s DataCentre220 was featured where the company increased its UPS footprint by 40%.

This solution comprised four APC Galaxy VS 100 KVa UPSs and lithium-ion batteries, delivering an operating efficiency of 97%, compared to legacy equipment efficiency of 92%. This increase in efficiency produces a 7kw heat loss reduction; a significant energy saving and energy waste reduction for the customer.

Farouk Ghadially, Schneider Electric VP of IT and Data Centre Business says that partnerships like these really help us drive the right outcomes for our customers in New Zealand.

Blackmore was accompanied on stage to accept the award by UPSPS corporate sales manager Sam Lingman. The company will now progress to the Global Awards category with winners being announced at Schneider’s Innovation Summit later in 2025.
