They say knowledge is power and at UPS Power Solutions we love to share our knowledge about power.
We have launched “The Owner’s Manual” training events which are designed to provide facility managers with the knowledge and experience to care for and operate their power quality infrastructure.
The inaugural Owner’s Manual training event for facilities managers was held on Friday 2nd August 2019 and was well attended by facility managers from across the wider Auckland region.
Attendees participated in a classroom session aimed at demystifying the technology that makes UPS systems work. This was followed by a session delivered by Kraus and Naimer Switchgear, explaining the design and operation of bypass switches.
A hands-on hardware experience was eagerly received by the attendees who took full advantage of being able to bypass UPS systems, switch UPS systems in and out of parallel setups and see how UPS systems behave in the event of power loss.
Given the critical nature of the business operations UPS systems protect in the live environment, this hands-on experience is almost impossible to access outside of The Owner’s Manual training environment. Businesses train their staff on how to respond to events such as fire and earthquake, but often not on how to respond to power outages. By attending The Owner’s Manual, facilities managers were able to practice how they will respond to power loss in the event of a disaster.
The event was rounded off with a BBQ and a trip across the road to Mt Smart Stadium to watch the Warriors. Unfortunately, the warriors result was not as hoped but this did little to dampen the spirits of the attendees who found the inaugural Owner’s Manual event informative, valuable and fun.
The success of the event has encouraged us to continue offering the experience and adding real value to our customers with industry-leading training and support.
Hands up in Wellington, who is keen? – it’s your turn next!
Our successful event was enhanced by the support of our suppliers. A huge thank you to:
