UPS Power Solutions understands its critical role in keeping our customers’ businesses and operations up and running.
As we head into Alert level 3, we can apply our experiences from supporting essential services customers through Alert level 4 and ensure safe and effective support for all our customers.
The UPS engineering team is vital to our service provision. Our assessment is that our Engineers can work safely and maintain social distance as they undertake their work on customer premises.
We have developed a Safe Work Method Statement specific to Covid-19 which encompasses risk controls for hygiene, social distancing, cleaning, PPE use, travel, recording contacts and returning home guidelines.
Our Engineers have all been briefed regarding the Ministry of Health’s advice on steps to take to minimise the spread of Covid-19. They have been provided with sanitized wipes, full face visors and facial respirators to offer further protection to them and our customers.
Planned Onsite Services
There is a risk associated with deferring the servicing of UPS and battery systems. How much the risk increases does depend on how long the maintenance is deferred and on the condition of your equipment.
If you don’t change the oil in your brand new car at the right time, you can change it a month later, and it will make no difference. If you leave it longer, and drive thousands of kilometres or if your car is older it is likely that you are going to have a breakdown.
We will be contacting our services customers with works that have been deferred or that are now due in the coming days and weeks to schedule these important works.
Unplanned Onsite Services
We continue to retain our on-call services throughout this time. We will continue our split across the UPS engineering team to ensure that we reduce the risk of all engineers being in compulsory isolation.
If you require on-site fault response, please call 0800 877 769 as you normally would, and an on-call engineer will respond.
Access to product and parts
We have been proactively securing our supply chain and are holding good stocks of UPS models up to 80KVA and CSB batteries in a range of power ratings.
We have good stocks of small user-installed plug and play UPS solutions that ensure key business staff can continue to operate from home. These are ideally suited to support personal computers, modems, ONT routers and VOIP phones.
Our operations team has arranged contactless pickup and delivery of product for both our courier and carrier deliveries.
Our Business Continuity Plan
UPS Power Solutions has a three stage Covid-19 Business Continuity Plan in place and being followed. Among other measures, our plan encompasses automatic fail-over systems and the ability to work remotely.
At Alert level 3, more than 50% of our team will continue to work remotely, this allows the on-premise bubble to remain small and provide good space for social distancing.
On-site attendances in locations where our engineers are required to fly will be contingent on transport operators providing this service.
Our team of experts is here to help you and address any questions or requirements you have. You are able to contact them in the normal manner.
We appreciate that this is an evolving situation and consequently, the above advice represents our current assessment. If the situation changes, we will review our response and communicate with you at that time.
